Woman gangraped in Telangana, 4 held

The accused also robbed the couple of Rs 3,500 cash, some ornaments and a cell phone

Hyderabad: Four persons, including an autorickshaw driver, were arrested on Thursday for allegedly gang raping a married woman after beating her husband in Khammam district of Telangana, police said.

The incident occurred on the night of April 12 when the couple from Chhattisgarh, who migrated to Warangal, had gone to Bhadrachalam and were returning back, police said.

"The couple had boarded an autorickshaw in which the four accused were already travelling. They took the couple near a forest area close to Manguru cross roads and beat up the woman's husband and later allegedly raped the woman," Burgampad police station sub-inspector Karunakar Rao said.

Before fleeing, they also robbed the couple of Rs 3,500 cash, some ornaments and a cell phone, the SI said.

During the course of investigation, the accused were identified as Narasimha, the driver of the auto, Ramakrishna, Satish and Balu, who were picked up from Kothagudem railway station last night and arrested today, he said.

The four were booked on charges of gang rape and robbery under relevant sections of IPC, he added.
