Class XI boy held for raping 6-year-old girl in Chandigarh
Chandigarh: A minor boy studying in class XI at a school here was arrested for allegedly raping a six-year-old girl, police said today.
"The 17-year-old accused, a resident of Sector 49, lured the girl, who lives in his neighbourhood, to a deserted area nearby and raped her yesterday," SHO Sector 34 police station Baljeet Singh said.
Singh said after committing the crime the accused had dropped the victim back home. However, the victim narrated the incident to her mother and later on the police were informed.
The girl was rushed to Government Hospital in Sector 32 here where she was discharged after treatment, the SHO said.
The accused has been arrested and a case registered against him under relevant sections of the IPC and the POSCO Act, the police official said.
He said that while the girl's mother works as a domestic help her father is an auto-rickshaw driver and the accused father works as a plumber. The incident comes close on the heels of rape and murder of a four-year-old girl in Colony No 4 here about a fortnight ago.
