Victim offers land for development; builder denies flats
Vijayawada: After allegedly being cheated by a builder, a 34-year-old software engineering, holidaying at home in city, committed suicide by hanging himself to the ceiling fan at his parents' house late on Monday.
According to Machava-ram police, Kommuri Krishna Murthy son of Kommuri Veeraiah, a retired government emp-loyee, was working as software engineer in Hy-derabad where he resides with family. However, Krishna Murthy came to Vijayawada to visit parents on Satur-day. His parents left for Hyderabad on Monday, while Krishna Murthy stayed back saying that he had some work in city.
As Murthy was not answering any of their calls, his parents contacted neighbours through phone and asked them to look out for Murthy, police said. Neighbours who managed to enter the house, which was locked from inside, found Murthy hanging to the ceiling fan hook on Monday night. Police informed his parents who rushed to the city in the early hours on Tuesday.
Police found a suicide note in Murthy's T-shirt pocket reading, “Builder Mahesh is responsible to my death. He forcibly took land from me and caused me distress.” Police upon preliminary inquiry found that Murthy gave his land at Payakapuram to builder Mahesh who as per the deal is supposed to allocate flats to Murthy after developing apartments.
“But Mahesh allegedly refused to hand over flats to Murthy after completi-on of the apartments ign-oring Murthy’s repeated pleas since several months,” said police. Police registered a case under Section 174 of CrPC initially and may alter Sections in the course if investigation. Murthy is married to K. Geetha of Hyderabad six years ago and had a daughter K. Tejaswi who is four years old.
