BJP matches jibe with jibe
Party says those who led ‘loot ki sarkar’ should not question NDA
New Delhi: Reacting sharply to Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi’s suit-boot ki sarkar jibe, BJP on Tuesday attacked the opposition party saying those who had led a “loot ki sarkar” for 10 years had no right to question the “well- meaning” NDA government now at the Centre.
Launching an all-out attack on Rahul, BJP charged that while his speech in Parliament was a “scripted” one, his anger was “manufactured” and does not make him a “kisan” leader. The ruling party said it was less about the Land Acquisition Bill and more about Rahul’s “acquisition” by Congress after his return from a long break.
Attacking Congress for spreading disinformation against the government on the land bill, BJP said the opposition’s criticism on issuing ordinances was like “the devil quoting scriptures”.
Meanwhile, the showdown over the Land Bill is set to escalate after Rahul Gandhi’s attack on the ruling dispensation as the government appears to be in no mood to relent amidst an indication that it would push the proposed legislation in Parliament after May 4. A clear indication to this effect was given by a senior Union Minister, who said that the government will go ahead with the measure in the first week of May, notwithstanding the protests.
Unwilling to let the momentum slip, the Congress went to the extent of suggesting that it could bring a privilege motion against agriculture minister Radha Mohan Singh for “unabashedly misleading” the nation on the statistics.
