AP government tells collectors to put an end to dog menace
The chief secretary said that the government is taking the issue very seriously
Hyderabad: After the death of a girl in Guntur district, the AP government has issued instructions to the district administration to take immediate action in removing stray dogs. Chief Secretary I.Y.R. Krishna Rao reviewed the stray dog menace during a video conference with collectors.
The chief secretary said that the government is taking the issue very seriously in Guntur district. He asked officials of Panchayat Raj, Animal Husbandry, and municipal departments to remove stray dogs with the help of the dog squad and they should be transported to animal welfare shelters.
He said unlicensed meat shops should be removed immediately and requested people not to throw food leftovers in open places. He said that the animal husbandry department should take measures for birth control of dogs.
The chief secretary said that severe action will be taken by the government against officers if night shelters are found with lack of maintenance and facilities.
