Railway employee teaches life skills
P. Mangatayaru has conducted around 100 training sessions in different schools and organisations
Karimnagar: ISCAT (Institute for Student Counselling and Training) meant to help not just students but also mentally and physically challenged children, free of cost, happens to be the brainchild of Chennama-dhavuni Muneendra Babu, a superintendent of Railway reservation counter in Karimnagar city.
The good samaritan established the institute to help students hone their communication skills, practice stress management and improve concentration with the help of music, Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP), yoga and meditation.
Mr Muneendra Babu, a 50-year-old native of Adilabad district headquarters, provides counselling to government or private organisation employees on how to overcome professional stress through Mission Sadbhavana wing. He has already authored two books titled Manobalam and Armor of ECRC (Enquiry- cum-reservation room), a handbook of guidelines for frontline staff of Railway department.
When asked, the Railway employee said that he decided to initiate this unique organisation, on account of his former colleague, who ended his life in 1999, unable to cope with professional pressure. “I consulted a psychiatrist and learned some hard tips to face stress in life. I devised my simpler and effective methods with which everybody can keep stress at bay,” explained the B. Sc graduate.
P. Mangatayaru, principal of Navodaya Vidyalaya in Choppadandi, said that Muneendra’s seminars have helped her students in many ways. “Now, students are able to concentrate on lessons and handle academic pressure,” she stated. He conducted a seminar on dealing with examination related stress and tension in the institution in February last. So far, he has conducted around 100 training sessions in different schools and organisations.
