Bengaluru: Jayanagar police nab daring 19-year-old thief
BENGALURU: A 19-year-old home nurse was arrested by Jayanagar police after she allegedly stole a gold chain from the house of one of her victims. As a parting gift, she left a note daring her employer to catch her, saying that she had given false details at the time of appointment.
The accused, Lavanya, who hails from Shivamogga, joined Sumuka Nursing Home in January, and had given her name as Shruthi and that she hailed from Davanagere.
She worked as a housekeeper and also helped elder patients at the nursing home. On January 22, she was sent for work in the house of K.N. Anantharaghava Sharma, a resident of Jayanagar 3rd Block. She worked for three days and then escaped with the gold chain of an elderly woman Shanthi, who did not inform the police about the incident.
After a couple of days Lavanya sent a message to the nursing home owner Narayanaswamy, saying that she had stolen the gold chain and dared him to catch her. After Mr Narayanaswamy filed a complaint, Jayanagar police verified her mobile call records and zeroed in on her house in Shivamogga.
Lavanya collapsed while being shifted to the city and has been admitted to a nearby hospital, where she was discharged.
