The future of MAA is at stake: Naresh
There is fresh controversy brewing in the Movie Artists Association (MAA). Actor Naresh of the Jayasudha panel, who was recently elected as joint secretary, criticised the new MAA president Rajendra Prasad for meeting Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao without informing the association.
“The way the new president is acting, the future of MAA is at stake. He didn’t take other elected members into consideration when he met the Chief Minister or other ministers,” said Naresh.
“If it is a personal visit, you tell others about it… When you are elected in a prestigious association like MAA you shouldn’t act as a single person. He completely forgot the panel… maybe he does not know the procedure. You are answerable to all the members of the association,” added Naresh.
He also criticised Rajendra Prasad for only meeting Chiranjeevi. “I am not against Chiranjeevi as we are family friends. But my question is why did he meet only Chiranjeevi garu?
There are many other senior actors like Krishna, Mohan Babu, Murali Mohan and others. What kind of message is he sending by out meeting only Chiranjeevi? I am now worried that there will be a big question mark over the functioning of MAA,” he said.
Naresh added that before the elections both factions were accusing each other. “But after being elected we will have to work together, but he acts as if this is a one-man-show, which is not good. It is an insult to the other 700 members,” he said.
“All of us work together for the welfare of poor artistes, not as individuals. There have been many senior actors who have contributed to the Telugu Film Industry and we have to get their support too,” he added.
