Seshachalam killings condemned
The resolution said that the State government has failed to thwart smuggling
Visakhapatnam: The twenty-first Party Congress of CPM on Sunday condemned the cold-blooded killing of 20 migrant workers, including 13 tribals from Tamil Nadu by the Andhra Pradesh police in Seshachalam forests. The resolution said that the State government has failed to thwart smuggling and illegal trade in red sanders in Sechachalam forests by taking firm action against smugglers and illegal traders, most of whom have close links to top political leaders of the state, and has instead resorted to brutal killing of the workers.
The congress demanded CBI inquiry into the incident and compensation to the families of those killed. The resolution also demanded punishment to the police officials involved in the killings. The Party demanded the Centre to fulfil the commitments made to ensure special status to AP and deliver the special packages promised to the two states.
