Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has approved the building design submitted by renowned architect Hafeez Contractor for the “Telangana Kalabharathi”, to be built on the 14-acre land opposite Indira Park where the NTR Stadium stands.
The NTR Stadium was used by governments in undivided Andhra Pradesh to celebrate the State Formation Day on November 1. Mr Rao will lay the foundation stone enable commencement of construction.
The CM decided to construct Kalabharathi as a tribute to the history of Telangana and Mr Contractor was approached for the purpose. He has designed iconic buildings like the 23 Marina Towers in Dubai and Infosys Technologies’ IT Parks across the country.
Mr Contractor met Mr Rao twice earlier, once in December 2014 and in February 2015, to discuss Kalabharathi designs.
