Deepika’s dance for Missing In Action Ranveer Singh
Deepika Padukone will be performing an elaborate Kathak dance in front of Ranveer Singh — who will be Missing In Action (MIA) as he is hurt — for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani.
The number, which will be shot over the next week, will stretch for a good seven minutes of non-stop dancing by Deepika. Says a source close to the production house, “The last time Deepika danced for Bhansali, she created magic in the garba dance number, Nagara Sang Dhol. This time the duo will be going even further in the pursuit of elegant dancing. The only difference is, Deepika’s co-star Ranveer Singh will be missing.”
It is believed that love blossomed between the couple during the shooting of Nagara Dhol song in Goliyon Ki Raas Leela Ram Leela. Now a song choreographed by the legendary Kathak exponent Birju Maharaj, where Deepika’s Mastani expresses her love for her “Bajirao” Ranveer Singh — a la Madhubala in Mughal-e-Azam — will be filmed by the same director without the leading man’s presence, as Ranveer is recuperating from a shoulder surgery.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan had similarly shot a song, a mujra for J.P. Dutta’s Umrao Jaan, supposedly performed in front of Abhishek Bachchan when the two were in a relationship. But Abhishek, too, was away during the shoot, attending some family obligations.
