National recruitment plan unveiled for 2016

Council to organise a two-day national summit at SRM University on July 31
Chennai: There is no proper channel of communication between recruiting companies and colleges in terms of the kind of student profile that the companies want. This leads to questions over the ‘employability’ of graduating students, as they are very often said to be lacking in the required skills.“The ensuing situation results in the problem of unemployment. We hope to intervene in this issue by establishing a direct connection with companies, including medium and small sector industries,” said S. Amar Prasad Reddy, founder-member of Recruitment Analysis Council, a registered non-governmental organisation.
He said the council currently works with the ministry of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) in this regard.Speaking during the launch of the National Recruitment Plan – 2016, on Saturday, Mr Reddy said the council will organise a two-day national summit at SRM University on July 31 to arrive at a better understanding of global recruiting requirements.
Releasing the plan, Justice T.N. Vallinayagam, former Madras and Karnataka HC judge, said students must inculcate three qualities: “They are, industry or the ability to work hard, involvement and innovation. They will get jobs if their skills are improved,” he said. Speaking on the occasion, V.J. Pushpakumar, founder and director of the Indian Institute of Logistics, said companies today do not want to spend money and time for training fresh recruits. “It is a pity that educational institutes are killing the bright prospects of students instead of instilling some skills in them,” he said.
