It will issue notification calling for global e-tenders

Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh government has decided to sell 3,500 metric tonnes of red sanders and for this it will issue notification calling for global e-tenders. Interested purchasers of red sanders wood on a “as is where is” basis can file e-tenders from May 4 to May 7. AP Cabinet scheduled for April 22 will formally approve selling red sanders.
Later, the government will issue notification. The AP government got permission from the Centre to sell 8,514 metric tonnes of red sanders. State government issued the notification calling e-tenders for purchase of 4,160 metric tonnes of red sanders on November 7, 2014. But, contrary to expectations, there was poor response. Bidders filed e-tenders for purchase of 2,694 metric tonnes against the 4,160 metric tonnes. Some bidders even backed out later.
The AP government has pinned hopes on the sale of red sanders for revenue. In the present FY, it is expecting Rs 800 crore from red sanders sales.
