Woman discovers her co-worker is her birth mother
They had been acquainted with each other not just as mother-daughter
Washington: An adopted Ohio woman who was searching for her biological mom was left stunned after learning that she has been actually a co-worker with her at the same company for 4 years.
According to the ABC News, La-Sonya Mitchell-Clark said that ever since she found out that she was adopted wanted to know who her biological mother was, the Washington Post reported. The 38-year-old found out her mother's name was Francine Simmons after the state's Department of Health released birth records for those born between Jan. 1964 and Sept. 1996.
She knew of an employee named Francine. She reached out, and the next day, got the long-awaited phone call. "I said, 'I think I'm your daughter," Mitchell-Clark said.
Simmons said she always wanted to connect with the daughter she gave up as a 15-year-old mother, but didn't know how. "I'm still in shock," Simmons said. "It's amazing." The two only live a few minutes from each other in Youngstown. It turns out Mitchell-Clark has three sisters she didn't know about. And one of them works at InfoCision as well.
She said her adoptive parents have always been supportive of her, and encouraged her to try to find her mother. "Now, we've got a bigger, extended family where we can just be together," Simmons said.
