Kriti Sanon Rebuts Radhika Apte’s Claims Of A Patriarchal Telugu Industry

Actress Radhika Apte’s recent comments about how Tollywood was patriarchal and so male dominated that female actors were disrespectfully overlooked, stirred a hornet’s nest.

Kriti Sanon who started her career with Nenokkadine, however, says she never encountered any bias in the industry. “Every industry is patriarchal,” she says. “In Bollywood, if you are working with one of the top actors, he is bound to be the centre of attention.”

Kriti, who says she has no interest in being the centre of attraction, adds, “Unless I am deliberately snubbed or made to feel small, I’m ok with the hierarchy on the sets.”

“I’ve never encountered any blatant partiality. I’ve never been sidelined for the sake of the hero. The units of both the films that I’ve done so far in Telugu have been fun to shoot with. I love Tollywood as much as Bollywood. I started in T’town, and now I’ve another Telugu film ready for release. I’d love to continue doing Telugu films. I find the industry disciplined and very work friendly,” she adds.
