Hrithik Roshan helps Indian para-athletes
The actor is going to fulfil their dreams to participate in the Paralympics
Hrithik Roshan has become much more approachable to the media nowadays. This is perhaps because he wants to make his gesture of goodwill known to fans: He is going to fulfil the Indian para-athletes’ dream to participate in the Paralympics through a crowd-funding initiative. The actor recently met best buddy, Kunal Kapoor, who has been actively helping raise funds for them through his organisation. Hrithik, whose brand is called HRX, will join hands with other brands to raise a sum of over Rs20 lakh in two months.
The money will be used to fund the athletes’ presence at the 2016 Rio Paralympics,” says a source. The actor will take up the case of swimmers Sharath Gayakwad and Niranjan Mukundan and powerlifters Sakina Khatun and Rajinder Singh Rahelu. When DC contacted him, he said, “Early in April, when I read reports about the treatment to para-athletes at a sports meet, I was deeply distressed, but empowered to make a change.
That’s when my team and I decided to help them realise their dreams through a crowd-funding initiative. We not only want to raise funds for their training, but also create awareness amongst corporates and the masses about supporting Indian para-athletes. We want to celebrate their spirit and courage and create an example for others to follow.”
