Telangana for common dress in schools

The rule will be applicable to only those private schools affiliated to the State Board

Hyderabad: The Telangana government is toying with the idea of introducing a uniform dress code for all schools in the state, including private schools. However, the rule will be applicable to only those private schools affiliated to the State Board.

Schools following other syllabus like CBSE, ICSE, IB etc. will be exempted. This follows a recommendation from the Backward Classes Welfare Department, which had sought a uniform dress code on the ground that the free school uniforms being supplied by the government to BCs who are studying in private schools with government funding }failed to serve the purpose as each private school followed its own dress codes.

This has been forcing these students to buy school uniforms from respective schools, which their parents cannot afford. The proposal has been sent to Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for approval. He is expected to take a decision soon so as to implement it from the new academic year (2015-16) set to commence in June.
