Telangana carries out intense bird flu checks, culling

As per report, 1,59,953 chickens had been culled and 2,28,428 eggs destroyed from April 14 to 16
Hyderabad: The state government’s health department has covered 2600 houses between April 14 and 17, covering 13,000 people in five of the 18 villages in the bird flu surveillance zone.
People were asked if they were facing any issues symptomatic of bird flu. As on Friday 78 people said yes to at least one of the bird flu symptoms like high fever and body pains. However, it was found that all of them had common cold, for which they were given medicines. They were, however, told to report back if the symptoms did not subside. As per the final figures released on Friday, 1,59,953 chickens had been culled and 2,28,428 eggs destroyed from April 14 to 16.
A police check post of five policemen headed by an inspector has also been set up at Abdullapurmet to avoid any outflow of poultry products from Hayathnagar. Disinfection operations are being conducted at the five farms.
