Huawei finally unveiled the flagship smartphone models of 2015 - P8 and P8 max in London on April 15, 2015. Huawei P8 and P8 max feature a high-resolution 13MP camera and is expected to go on sale this May.

Body and display

Huawei announced that the flagship models of Huawei P8 and P8 max have a metallic body, accompanies a flat design to make it strong, sleeker and a comfortable grip. Huawei P8 features a 5.2-inch LCD capacitive display with a pixel density of 424ppi pixels. Whereas, the Huawei P8 max model has a much larger screen i.e. 6.8-inch LCD capacitive screen, which measures a pixel density of 324ppi. The display resolution of Huawei P8 and P8 max is 1080 x 1920 pixels and the screens of these handsets come with a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection.

Processor and Operating system

Huawei P8 is powered by a 2GHz Quad-core Cortex-A53 processor and Huawei P8 max is equipped with a Quad-core 2.2 GHz Cortex-A53 processor. The dual SIM Huawei P8 and P8 max handsets run on the upgraded Android 5.0.2 Lollipop operating system, coupled with Emotion U1 3.1 and promises to offer a better User Interface.

The satandard version of Huawei P8 offers 16GB of ROM and the P8max handset has 32GB of ROM. The company offers 64GB of ROM on the premium models of Huawei P8 and Huawei P8 max. The standard and premium versions of Huawei P8 and P8 max offer 3GB of RAM.

Camera

Huawei P8 and P8 max smartphone models sport a 13MP rear snapper, with Sony RGBW sensor and dual LED Flash, that allows the user to capture high-resolution photos even in low-light conditions. However the megapixels of the front-facing cameras of these handsets differ from each other.

The Huawei P8 sports an 8MP front-facing camera as compared to the P8 max, which only offers a 5MP primary camera. Geo-tagging, touch focus, face/smile detection, panorama and HDR are the other features added to the camera of both these handsets.

Battery

Huawei has fuelled the Huawei P8 smartphone with a 2680mAh battery. But the 6.8-incher model has been powered by a 4360mAh battery.

The P8 and P8 max also differ in terms of weight and thickness as well. The thickness of Huawei P8 and P8 max is 6.4mm and 6.8mm respectively. Huawei P8 is light in weight as compared to the Huwaei P8 max model. i.e. Huawei P8 weighs around 144 grams and the P8 max weighs 228 grams. The 32GB variant of Huawei P8 and P8 max will be available in colours - Titanium Grey and Mystic Champagne. Whereas, the 64GB variant of Huawei P8 max comes in different color shades, which include the Carbon Black and Prestige Gold.

Sensors like Accelerometer, gyro, proximity and compass have been added to the two newly unveiled 2015 flagship handsets of Huawei.

Verdict

In terms of display size, front camera and weight, the Huawei P8 is better than the P8 max. The 8MP camera of the 5.2-incher P8 may also impress the ones who love to capture selfie photos, as compared to the 5MP front-facing camera of P8 max.

However, if you take the battery life into consideration, the P8 max is superior, which is fuelled with a 4360mAh. In short, if you prefer a phablet with a longer battery life, the P8 max handset can be a good choice.
