Train mows down 12 buffaloes in city
Hyderabad: As many as 12 buffaloes were killed when a train hit them on the railway track near Hafeezpet on Wednesday. The herd was crossing the track in the afternoon when the mishap occurred.
An MMTS train was suspected to have hit the animals.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred on the railway track passing through Gopal Rao Nagar near a local dargah.
“As the speeding train hit them, many were hurled into the bushes and nearby rocks. They had sustained severe injuries,” said a local resident.
The locals said that the herd wandered in to this area for the vegetation most of the days.
“This place is located between Hitec City station and Hafeezpet station. The animals must have been crossing the track most of the days, and the bushes in the area seemed to be their usual habitat,” said a local resident.
Nampally railway police have been informed about the incident. It is yet to book a case. The owner of the herd is also yet to be identified.
