Thanks to bird flu scare, TRS meet to skip chicken, biryani
Hyderabad: Thanks to the bird flu scare, the famous Hyderabadi biryani and other chicken items will not be served to the 50,000-odd TRS delegates when they converge in the city for the first TRS plenary after the party come to power.
“As a precautionary measure, we have told our caterer not to prepare any chicken dish in view of the general warning on bird flu,” TRS Parliamentary party leader A.P. Jitender Reddy, who is the convenor of the food committee, told DC on Wednesday after he visited the Nizam College grounds where the food will be served.
The TRS plenary will be held at LB Stadium, which is across the road from Nizam College.
When contacted, well-known caterer Laxmaiah said, “We have been told not to serve biryani and chicken. We are avoiding biryani as it will make people thirsty due to the heat. But we will serve more mutton dishes like talakaya mamsam and boti along with other items. Tomorrow the food committee will meet CM K. Chandrasekhar Rao and finalise the menu.”
The chief minister has instructed the party leaders that the main venue of the plenary, LB Stadium, should not have any food courts and all delegates and VVIPs, including himself, would go to the Nizam College to eat.
The minister also said that the delegates should first have lunch and then proceed to the LB Stadium for the plenary session.
