Health officials warn of action against absent doctors
Telangana govt is very clear that action has to be taken against them, says minister
Hyderabad: Eight memos have been issued by the director of health and medical education to senior doctors and associate professors in Fever Hospital, Neilofeur Hospital and Osmania General Hospital. Senior paediatric surgeon Dr Narayana from Neilofeur Hospital has been transferred to Warangal Hospital.
Dr P. Srinivas, director of health and medical education said, “If doctors do not report for duty and is absent without notice it is not going to be tolerated. The government of Telangana is very clear that action has to be taken against them.”
In-charge superintendent of Fever Hospital Dr Raja Rao, Dr Balaji, Prof. of Medicine and Dr Meera were not in the hospital when the Chief Minister, K. Chandrashekar Rao, made a surprise visit on April 11. Also when the DME, Dr Srinvias made a surprise visit on Saturday night at OGH, assistant professor Dr Bhargavi had failed to check on the patients in the acute medical ward and a memo has been served to her.
During the visit, Dr Srinivas found that only post-graduate students were attending to patients and the duty doctor had failed to carry out the mandatory rounds. Also, both superintendents of Neilofeur Hospital and OGH have been pulled up for not maintaining proper sanitation in the hospital.
In OGH, Superintendent Dr Raghu Ram called all heads of the department and assistant professors on Monday morning and asked them to report to duty on time, not indulge in proxy signing of registers and also to not walk out of the hospital by 2 p.m.
