Will fulfil all promises made in AP Reorganisation Act, says Arun Jaitley

'NDA govt at Centre will extend complete cooperation to state govt'

Anantapur: Union finance minister Arun Jaitley on Saturday assured the people of the state that the Centre was committed to fulfil all the promises made in the AP Reorganisation Act.

He sought to assure the people that the Modi-led NDA government would ensure that the all important Polavaram project is completed as it benefits the people of the state on both the irrigation and drinking water fronts.

Speaking at a public meeting following the setting of the foundation stone for the National Customs Academy at Palasamudram village in Gorantla mandal of Anantapur district, Mr Jaitley reiterated that the NDA government at the Centre will extend complete cooperation to the state government in developing AP on all fronts.

He praised Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for successfully arranging 900 acres in just 9 months for the establishment of the customs academy. Anantapur district is convenient for development as it is strategically located and is closer to Bengaluru, Mr Jaitley said.

“MPs from AP have highlighted the problems faced by the state in Parliament. Many more industries will be established in the district and the Centre will help the state in solving the drinking water problem in the district,” he said.

Union urban development minister M. Venklaiah Naidu said the Congress government bifurcated the state only for political gains. “The last 50 years of Congress rule has left the country in chaos,” he said.

Mr Naidu said the state government will complete the Polavaram project and divert water to drought prone Anantapur district within four years.
