Hyderabad: A ramp is to be constructed at Shalimar junction, the first junction on the Panjagutta-Ameerpet road to Srinagar Colony, to ease traffic congestion. The ramp is to be constructed at 6 feet without affecting the local graveyard. There are graveyards on both sides of the road of Shalimar Junction, where four Metro Rail pillars are to be installed.

Hyderabad Metro Rail MD N.V.S. Reddy said, “The ramp would be constructed 6 feet above the graveyard, there are many technicalities that need to put in place and a committee has been formed to prepare the proposal.”

Outlining plans for other parts of the Metro route, the HMR chief said a skywalk would be constructed from the Exhibition Grounds main gate to Moazzamjahi Market. “The GHMC has appointed an agency to study the traffic at MJ Market. On both sides of the MJ Market and on the Nampally stretch, there are four vacant government properties and a lot of vacant spaces,” he said.

The GHMC would also remove all major hurdles on the road from Mythrivanam to Nirankari Bhavan at Lakdikapul to reduce congestion. The GHMC would widen roads there.

In Secunderabad, the road from YMCA to Secunderabad, passing along Garden Restaurant, clock tower, Regional Pas-sport Office up to railway station would be widened. The GHMC has asked TSTransco authorities to prepare a proposal to shift the electrical sub-station from the clock tower compound. The stretch from Sangeet crossroads to Secunderabad railway station is to be widened as well.
