CBI to quiz docs in Dera ashram who castrated 400
New Delhi: The CBI, which is probing the alleged forced castration of around 400 followers at Sirsa ashram of Dera Sacha Sauda sect, is preparing to examine two doctors who supervised the surgeries. The agency, sources said, will soon record their statements.
“Primary investigations by the agency have revealed that the alleged surgeries were performed in the presence of these two doctors. The agency sleuths have ascertained the identity of these two doctors. They will soon be called for examination”, sources said. The CBI on January 7 had registered a case against Dera Sacha Sauda’s chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh to probe the alleged forced castration of Dera followers at his ashram at Sirsa in Haryana. The agency will also question Dera chief in this connection, sources said.
The CBI registered the case of alleged criminal conspiracy for voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means among other charges under the IPC against Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh and others. The case relating to the alleged castration of 400 devotees was registered on the orders of the Punjab and Haryana High Court. Gurmeet Ram Rahim is also facing trial in connection with cases of murder of a journalist and sexual exploitation of his women disciples.
Sources said the agency sleuths have gathered enough evidence against the accused Dera chief.
