PIL filed in Supreme Court on Andhra Pradesh killings
New Delhi: Describing the encounter of 20 woodcutters belonging to Tamil Nadu as an incident worse than the Jalianwala Bagh massacre, a public interest litigation has been filed in the Supreme Court on Friday.
Advocate R. Krishnamurthy, who got permission on Thursday from Chief Justice H.L. Dattu, filed the PIL through advocate Muth-ukrishnan. The petitioner said that the AP task force personnel had “resorted to this inhumane killings without any warning or ascertaining whether they were labourers or not.”
“This is nothing but a mass fake encounter. The forest and police officials could have arrested the persons indulging in illegal acts. The state police had claimed that the killings were resorted to in self-defence. But the task force story is far beyond the truth and incredible. The task force officials might have picked up the innocents well in advance, taken them into custody and planned a plot to kill them under the guise of encounter,” he said.
