Militancy has decreased in Jammu in past four years: officials
Jammu: There has been decrease in the militancy in Jammu region where 64 militancy-related incidents were reported during last four years, according to state Home department.
Militancy in Jammu region has declined considerably during last several years, Home department officials said.
Reasi district of the region's ten districts has witnessed "zero militancy" syndrome with no militancy-related incidents reported from it from 2011 till date, they said.
A total of 64 incidents have been witnessed in ten districts of Jammu region during the period, they said adding after Reasi, Udhampur district has witnessed one militancy-related incident, three in Samba, four in Rajouri district, five in Kathua district, six each in Jammu, Doda and Ramban districts.
The highest number of militancy-related incidents numbering 15 have taken place in Kishtwar and Poonch districts of the region, they said.
The figures revealed that highest number of 29 militancy-related incidents have taken place in 2011 followed by 11 in 2012, six in 2013, 12 in 2014 and three in 2015 upto March end, they said. As per the officials around 15-20 militants are reported to be active in various parts of Jammu region.
