Domestic car sales witness growth in financial year 2015, first time after 2012
To attract customers and create business, auto industry launched 90 models.
New Delhi: After witnessing contraction for straight two years, domestic cars sales witnessed a positive growth in 2014-15 as consumer sentiments start reviving.
Low fuel prices and a short term stimulus in way of reduced excise duty played a role in reviving the sentiments. Car sales grew by around 5 per cent in 2014-15.
However, the growth is less than what auto industry was used to, a few years ago. In 2013-14, car sales had fallen by 4.65 per cent and in 2012-13 it had fallen by 6.69 per cent, which was the first decline in a decade.
