Security beefed up in old city after encounter of 5 SIMI terror suspects

Statewide search for SIMI men is continuing in Hyderabad, Nalgonda, Ranga Reddy and Warangal

Hyderabad: Following the encounter killing of the five SIMI terror suspects, 20 special police platoons and two company paramilitary forces will be deployed in and around Macca Masjid on Friday to ensure peace after the prayers.

The South Zone police has called on elders from Aman Nagar, where stone-pelting took place after terror suspect Vaquar’s funeral, asking them to counsel the youngsters to abstain from violence.

“Most of those who pelted stones after the funeral were teenagers from Aman Nagar area. They did it out of ignorance. We invited the elders to discuss the issue and asked them to tell these teenagers to behave peacefully,” said K. Babu Rao, additional deputy commissioner of police, South Zone.

Since city police officials are worried things that might go wrong in communally sensitive parts of the Old City due to the activities of miscreants, several informants have also been deployed.

All senior officials will be present in the Old City on Friday afternoon to tackle any untoward situation. A few roads might also be closed, said police officials.

Meanwhile the statewide search for SIMI men is continuing in Hyderabad, Nalgonda, Ranga Reddy, and Warangal.

Simi men stayed in a grove

One day before the encounter at Jankipuram, the SIMI terror suspect had a bath in a mango grove at Kunchamati village, a few kms from Suryapet, and had brought snacks from a kirana shop, the locals have told investigation officials.

Meanwhile, the Nalgonda collector ordered a magisterial inquiry into the encounter with five terror suspects on the Warangal-Nalgonda border.

The two terror suspects, Ajajuddin and Aslam, who were shot dead in the Jankipuram encounter were seen at Kunchamati village by a shopkeeper and others.

“They stayed for a while in the grove before going to the Arvapally Darga. They took a bath in a lake and changed their shirts. They bought some biscuits and other edibles from a kirana shop and went to the Darga,” said an official.

Asaduddin, Muslim leaders seek probe into TS encounter

Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi and JAC of the United Muslim Forum comprising religious heads on Thursday met Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao at the Secretariat and demanded an inquiry by the CBI or a sitting judge of the High Court into the recent encounter of undertrial prisoners Viquar Ahmed and four others in Warangal. They sought action on cops involved.

The CM promised to look into their demand, but sought time to seek a report from the home department. They told the CM that post-mortem reports of the deceased proved that that all of them were shot dead at point blank range with automatic weapons inside the bus as they were handcuffed and chained to the seats.
