UP exam paper leak: State HRD minister says CBI probe to be ordered soon
Lucknow: Amid demand for a CBI inquiry into the UPPCS paper leak case, Minister of State for HRD Ram Shankar Katheria on Friday said a probe by the central agency will soon be ordered and all the accused, including UPPSC chairman Anil Yadav, will have to go to jail if found guilty.
"CBI probe will soon be instituted in the paper leak case. UPPSC chairman Anil Yadav will have to go to jail (if found guilty)," Katheria said.
"Others found guilty in the paper leak case will also be jailed," he said, adding that he had met both Prime Minister and Home Minister to demand a CBI probe into the case.
The paper of UPPCS (Uttar Pradesh Provincial Civil Service) preliminary examination was leaked on social media in Lucknow on March 29 after which the exam was cancelled.
Regarding the issue of crop damage due to unseasonal rains and hailstorms in the state, Katheria said the Prime Minister has declared that the Centre would extend help even up to 100 per cent for losses suffered by UP farmers.
"It is for the state government to get the loss of crops suffered by farmers properly assessed as soon as possible so that the Centre can act on its report," he said, while alleging that the state government was not conducting proper evaluation of the loss suffered by poor farmers.
The Union Minister, who is also the MP from Agra, claimed that the Centre had proposed a six-lane road from Agra to Etawah but the UP government "refused" to accept the proposal.
"The proposal will take proper shape only once BJP comes to power in the state after 2017 UP Assembly polls," he said.
