Andhra Pradesh CM family firm ransacked to protest red sanders ‘smugglers’ encounter
Chennai: The members of a Tamil fringe group on Thursday ransacked a Heritage brand retail outlet in Luz corner in the city to protest against the massacre of 20 persons allegedly engaged in cutting of red sanders in the Andhra Pradesh forests. The Heritage group, founded by AP CM Chandrababu Naidu, is managed by his family members.
The police claimed that they have arrested two members of the fringe group named Tamilar Ezhachi Iyakkam for the attack on the outlet. The duo came with big sticks and started trashing the products on display on the shelves inside the shop. A constable who was on duty in the area caught the two immediately.
The Heritage group, founded in 1992 by Chandrababu Naidu, is one of the fastest growing private sector enterprises in India, and its flagship company Heritage Foods Limited is a public listed company with an annual turnover of Rs 1,726.99 crore in the 2013-14 fiscal.
Naidu’s wife, son and daughter-in-law are members of the board of directors of the company.
Presently, Heritage’s milk products have a visible market presence in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Odisha and Delhi and its retail stores are present in Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad.
