Kalki Koechlin opens up about being sexually abused at the age of 9

Mumbai: Known for her brave unconventional roles, versatile actor Kalki Koechlin recently opened up about a life event she is not very proud of.

The actor in association with a social media page called ‘Humans of Bombay’ shared her experience of being sexually abused at the mere age of nine.

In the post Kalki said people shouldn’t feel sorry for her after reading about her sexual abuse, rather parents should remove the taboo around the word ‘sex or private parts’ so that the kids can be saved from potential abuse.

Here’s what she said:

“I believe in being myself every step of the way and not hiding my true self from society, whether that means getting a divorce because me and my husband didn’t want to pretend for other people, or wearing shorts because it’s a hot day or choosing a career which is unstable but creatively satisfying, or admitting to my weaknesses because learning from them has led to my strengths.”
