Indian Mujahideen is not a terror organisation, says Congress minority cell chief
Panaji: All India Congress Committee's minority cell chairperson Khurshid Ahmed Saiyed on Wednesday said Indian Mujahideen (IM) is only a "sectarian outfit" and its members are not terrorists
Indian and US government have officially recognised Indian Mujahideen as a terror outfit. UPA government in 2010 had passed the order.
Talking to mediapersons in Goa Congress headquarters, Saiyed said that Muslim terrorists may exist in other parts of the world, but Muslims of Indian origin are never involved in terror activity.
"See, they may be there in some other countries, so far Indians are concerned, I am very much clear. I am very much categorical, that they are not there in India," he reportedly said.
When asked specifically about the involvement of the IM in 10 terror attacks, Saiyed said: "There may be some organisations, speaking something nonsense... does not mean they are terrorists."
