Indian air safety gets big boost
This means new flights can be started by Indian carriers to the US
New Delhi: In a major boost to the Narendra Modi government, the US Federal Aviation Administration on Wednesday upgraded India back to Category 1 status in air safety oversight, 14 months after it downgraded it to Category 2 status in January 2014.
This means new flights can be started by Indian carriers to the US. Indian aircraft operating to the US will no longer be subjected to “additional inspections at US airports”. The US will again allow “reciprocal codeshare arrangements”.
