Check out: IPL 8 opening ceremony is trending for all the wrong reasons
Opening night in Kolkata failed to dazzle the IPL fans

Mumbai: With the Bollywood stars such as Hrithik Roshan, Anushka Sharma, Shahid Kapoor, Farhan Akhtar and Saif Ali Khan being a part of the opening ceremony, the Indian Premier League season 8 was expected to start on a bright note on Tuesday.
But instead it turned out to be, a complete dud and social media wasted hardly any time bashing the event, mocking the bigwigs of Bollywood’s show at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata.
Would rather watch Suryavansham tbh.

— Broken Cricket (@BrokenCricket) April 7, 2015And criticisim of those who were aghanst by the IPL opening ceremony was not misplaced as the event, barring the below-par performances, involved many faux-pas. First Saif Ali Khan, who hosted the event started off on a slippery note. Then, Shahid Kapoor tripped twice during his performance.

Even Hrithik Roshan was not spared from criticism.Hrithik Roshan's hair will be later used as one of the cheerleader's pompom
