Check out: IPL 8 opening ceremony is trending for all the wrong reasons

Mumbai: With the Bollywood stars such as Hrithik Roshan, Anushka Sharma, Shahid Kapoor, Farhan Akhtar and Saif Ali Khan being a part of the opening ceremony, the Indian Premier League season 8 was expected to start on a bright note on Tuesday.

But instead it turned out to be, a complete dud and social media wasted hardly any time bashing the event, mocking the bigwigs of Bollywood’s show at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata.

And criticisim of those who were aghanst by the IPL opening ceremony was not misplaced as the event, barring the below-par performances, involved many faux-pas. First Saif Ali Khan, who hosted the event started off on a slippery note.

Then, Shahid Kapoor tripped twice during his performance.

Even Hrithik Roshan was not spared from criticism.
