Telangana to hire 3,650 cops to strengthen security
Compensation for slain cops hiked; big plan for Telangana fete
Hyderabad: The Telangana Cabinet has decided to recruit 3,650 police constables to strengthen security in the state. The decision was taken at a meeting of the Cabinet on Tuesday which mourned the death of Siddaiah, sub-inspector of police of Atmakur, who fought valiantly with the terrorists two days back. The proposal was immediately cleared as the state witnessed two major encounters in a span of three days.
Increase of ex gratia from Rs 25 lakh to Rs 40 lakh to the families of the police constables and lower cadre officers who died in terrorist violence was also taken. A Cabinet sub-committee, headed by home minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy, was formed to fix up the quantum of money to the families of those killed and to those who were injured in incidents of terrorist violence. Recruitment of skilled manpower will be made in power and irrigation departments as well, according to sources.
“The Telangana Formation Day celebrations will start at the village level and culminate in Hyderabad on June 8. People who made a mark at the mandal level will be felicitated with a cash award of Rs 10,116; those at the district-level will get Rs 50,116 and those who left an indelible mark at the state-level will be felicitated with an award of '1,00,116, the government said in a press release.
A decision to release tariff concession arrears of nearly Rs 7.19 crore to weavers of Siricilla was also taken. The subsidy on powerlooms will be continued for another five years.
The Cabinet also cleared a proposal to acquire 14 kuntas of land at Bahadurpally to set up a power substation.
