2 spotted with AK-47, Telangana police launches probe to nab them
The duo walked into a forest near Antharam village and disappeared, says an onlooker
Hyderabad: An ‘alert’ about two men with an AK-47 being on the prowl in Ranga Reddy district on Tuesday sparked panic in Shabad mandal and neighbouring areas.
The district police officials started a combing operation after the emergency services were alerted by a degree student. As per the student, he saw two men, who were carrying an AK-47 and a small weapon, get down from a truck at Shabad.
According to Chevella sub-division DSP A.V. Rangareddy, the caller named Suresh, who was riding his bike on the State Highway, saw two people get off a truck with two guns.
“He had to stop his bike as the truck in front of him had halted. He saw two men with guns getting down from the truck, and when they noticed him, they allegedly warned him against telling anyone,” said Mr Rangareddy.
As per the information, the duo walked into a forest near Antharam village, and disappeared. Special teams from the district police went into the forest and searched for several hours. However, they could not find anyone.
“We conducted combing operations for hours, but could not find anyone,” said Mr Rangareddy.
Following the shootouts in the neighbouring districts, the Ranga Reddy police is on high alert. Meanwhile, the combing operation is going on in Nalgonda and Warangal as police suspects that three more Simi members are on prowl. Police is trying to verify if the armed men are terrorists planning an attack.
