Lotion is a no-brainer during the winter, but your skin needs it the most during the summer. All of that direct sun, chlorine, and salt can do unthinkable things on your poor skin. These DIY body lotion recipes help soothe summer skin, no matter what’s ailing you.
For daily use
Heat two tablespoon shea butter, a quarter cup coconut oil, and three tablespoon cocoa butter over low heat until melted. Remove from heat and add one tbsp aloe vera juice. You may also add five to ten drops of essential oils. Stir to combine well. Store in a jar and apply in small amounts.
For oily skin
Mix four tablespoon of sweet almond oil with 15 tablespoon rose water, one tsp aloe vera, four tablespoon corn starch and half tsp honey. Empty the mixture into a bowl and microwave it for five minutes. Put it in a blender and blend until it is smooth in consistency. Allow it to settle in a jar. It will solidify in a few hours. Us it as a body lotion.
For dry skin
Mix half a cup almond or olive oil, a quarter cup coconut oil, a tbsp beeswax and two tablespoon cocoa butter in a glass jar. Heat a wok of water up to boiling point and place the jar in the water. Stir the ingredients in it lightly. When all the ingredients have completely melted, lift the jar and allow the lotion to cool. Apply whenever. Required and store in a dry place.
