Hours after encounter, injured sub-inspector’s wife gives birth to baby boy

Hyderabad: Hours after Atmakur sub-inspector G.D. Siddaiah was shot in an encounter with terror suspects, his wife Darsina gave birth to a baby boy on Saturday night.

Both Siddaiah and wife have been admitted at Kamineni Hospital at LB Nagar,

The joy was tempered. Doctors had started a surgery in the evening to remove four bullets from his body, and his condition remained serious.

His family said Siddaiah had applied for leave as his wife was in an advanced stage of pregnancy.

Sidhaiah’s friend Praveen Kumar said they had planned to go on a trip after his wife’s delivery. “He was tense about the delivery, and had taken leave. However, he returned to duty after the manhunt was launched,” he said.

Sidhaiah, who is a native of Mahbubnagar got, married one year ago, the family was living in Atmakur.
