18 police teams from Telangana to track Suryapet killers

Octopus, Greyhounds hunt for Suryapet shooters

Hyderabad: The Telangana police has set up 18 special teams to track down the Suryapet killers. Teams from the SIB, Octopus, Greyhounds and counter intelligence have joined the search. The police is examining CCTCV footage at the Hi-Tech bus station where the incident occurred.

About seven inspectors and eight SIs from Nalgonda district have been sent to Nalgonda town and outskirts to search for the killers. One team is collecting camera footage. Officials said the stolen carbine is also a major concern. “Two teams have been formed to find the carbine. We think the criminals may have dumped it somewhere,” said an official.

Till Thursday night the police searched about 10 km in Suryapet and other places including the Vijayawada highway.

A month ago Suryapet CI Mogaliah and his team had arrested a notorious criminal named Irfan and his buddies. Though there is a possibility of his gang attacking the CI, police denied this.

Meanwhile, the condition of CI Y Mogaliah and home guard Kishore in KIMS Hospital is stable. Intelligence IG Shivadhar Reddy, MP Gutha Sukender Reddy, and minister J. Krishna Rao visited them in hospital.

The Suryapet killers boarded the luxury bus at Chaderghat in Hyderabad.

The conductor said that when he demanded Rs 816 for two tickets to Vijayawada the gangsters gave Rs 820 indicating they knew Telugu. The crew didn’t understand why the men were taken by the police at Hi-Tech bus stand. “As they didn’t return we left,” drivers Prasad and Mahender said.

The police who couldn't get clear pictures of the killers from the CCTV footage recovered from the Suryapet bus station are examining footage from the Chaderghat bus stop.
