Why you should follow Popeye's lead and eat spinach everyday

Just one portion a day could help keep off dementia
You know your mother was right when she asked you to eat the greens and now there is scientific research to back that up. According to a study at Rush University in Chicago those who regularly ate one or two portions of green veg - such as spinach or kale - experienced a less significant decline in cognitive function than those who didn't.
The study suggests that eating two portions of green elafy vegetables can significantly help protect brain health and reduce the risk of dementia.
The Independent goes on to quote lead researcher Martha Clare Morris — “Losing one’s memory or cognitive abilities is one of the biggest fears for people as they get older. Since declining cognitive ability is central to Alzheimer’s disease and dementias, increasing consumption of green leafy vegetables could offer a very simple, affordable and non-invasive way of potentially protecting your brain from Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.”
The leafy vegetables are linked to high levels of vitamins and nutrients, such as vitamin K, lutein, folate and beta-carotene.
