Watch: Sachin Tendulkar bigger than World Cup win?
Melbourne: It looks like sharing a warm moment with Indian icon Sachin Tendulkar is more than a World Cup win for dashing Australian batsman Glenn Maxwell.
After being crowned World Champions for the fifth time defeating New Zealand by seven wickets, Maxwell and teammate George Bailey were busy sharing their reactions with former New Zealand cricketer Simon Doull. The frame initially saw first George Bailey share his views on winning the gold trophy for the fifth time and dominating the sport.
But when Doull turned to Maxwell, he was nowhere to be seen. The 26-year-old all-rounder spotted the ‘Little Master’ Sachin Tendulkar walking by along with ICC dignitaries and in no time made a burst to the Indian legend and hugged him. Doull was left awestruck but it was quite a moment for everyone at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, who cheered the loudest for Tendulkar during the presentation ceremony.

Earlier, Maxwell made an attempt to sledge India saying Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Team India haven’t won a single game Down Under during the summer. This was before the co-hosts faced the defending champions in the semis of the recently concluded ICC Cricket World Cup that ultimately saw Michael Clarke-led Australian team emerge victorious by 95 runs.

This is not the first time Maxwell has appreciated Tendulkar. Before the main event began, Sachin Tendulkar was chosen by Maxwell in his playing for the World Cup and even opted for Tendulkar to open the batting.

That aside, now after being crowned World Champions for the fifth time, he’s proved what a sportsman he is, one gets respect only when one receives it.
