Telangana State to respond to charges on minister in 4 weeks

Former MP had alleged that huge bribes were being paid by private engineering colleges

Hyderabad: The Lok Ayukta on Monday directed principal secretaries of various departments to file their responses before April 28 on a complaint by former Congress MP Ponnam Prabhakar.

The former MP had alleged that huge bribes were being paid by private engineering colleges to former education minister G. Jagadish Reddy who is at present holding the power portfolio in the Telangana Cabinet.

Mr Prabhakar along with Congress MLA S.A. Sampath Kumar had earlier approached the Lok Ayukta alleging that bribes were paid by private engineering college managements to Mr Jagadish Reddy to release money under fee reimbursement scheme to students.

When the case came up for hearing on Monday, the Lok Ayukta directed principal secretaries for SC, ST, BC, minority welfare, education, panchayati raj and rural development departments to file their responses within four weeks and posted the matter to April 28.

It stated it will go through their responses to decide the matter.
