The scrap of the eight dismantled foot-overbridges and other iron waste of L&T will be used for rail beautification.
B. Srinivas Reddy, the former principal of JNTU Fine Arts College, said, “In 2012, a scrap welding workshop was held at the Boduppal bus station where all the APSRTC scrap were converted into art; about 55 sculptures were created and displayed across the traffic islands and city parks by the GHMC. Any form of sculpture can be created; it depends on the material available and the artist’s thought.”“Importantly, the HMR should provide the artist space, electricity, water, paints and cranes. It (the sculpture) will completely depend on the material. Artist would need welders as well. We welcome the decision of the HMR,” added noted artist Laxman Aelay. The Metro Rail authorities haven’t approached any artist yet, and will call a public meet once the project is nearing completion.
