GHMC has fixed Hyderabad’s Budget at Rs 5,550 crore

Hyderabad: The GHMC’s budget for 2015-16 has earmarked Rs 500 crore for the corporation’s health and sanitation wing. Another Rs 225 crore has been provided for streetlights, GHMC commissioner and special officer Somesh Kumar said.

The GHMC has fixed its budget at Rs 5,550 crore for 2015-16. The revenue and capital receipts has been put at Rs 6,396 crore and mandatory revenue surplus at Rs 846 crore, Mr Kumar said.

The GHMC expects to earn Rs 1,200 crore from property tax, Rs 600 crore from town planning fees, Rs 300 crore as surcharge on stamp duty and Rs 190 crore from professional tax.

The proposed building and layout regularisation schemes are expected to contribute Rs 800 crore to the GHMC kitty.

The government in its Budget for this year had alloted Rs 628 crore for the GHMC to run schemes like slum-free Hydera-bad (Rs 250 crore) TS Haritha Haram (Rs 25 crore) roads (Rs 250 crore) and the Charminar Pedestrian Project (Rs 1 crore).

The GHMC is expecting from the Centre, Rs 467 crore in the form of grants from the 13th and 14th Finance Commis-sions and funds for Swachh Bharat and Sardar Patel Housing Yojana.

The revenue expenditure is proposed at Rs 1,732 crore and capital expenditure at Rs 3,818 crore.

The revenue expenditure which comprises regular works and GHMC establishments wll get Rs 700 crore.
