Body of second naval officer missing in Dornier aircraft officer traced
Panaji: The body of the second missing Navy officer Lt Abhinav Nagori was on Friday recovered from the fuselage of the ill-fated Dornier Aircraft, which crashed during a training sortie off the Goa coast.
With the recovery of the young officer's body, which is being taken to Goa, the Navy has called off its search and rescue operation launched after the maritime surveillance aircraft crashed on Tuesday night. The body of Lt Kiran Shekhawat was recovered on Thursday from the fuselage.
The Indian Navy surveillance aircraft had crashed south-west off Goa coast with the two deceased officers while Commander Nikhil Kuldip Joshi, who was flying the aircraft and has 4,000 flying hours to his credit, was rescued about an hour after the crash by a fishing vessel.
The navy had launched an extensive search and rescue operation to find the two missing officers. The rescue operation involved atleast 12 ships, including two of Indian Coast Guard, and four aircraft involved in the search and rescue operations. Navy also recovered flight data recorders from the fuselage.
