Appropriation Bill passed through voice vote, Telangana Assembly adjourned sine die

In a first, House holds full-fledged discussions

Hyderabad: The Budget Session of the Telangana Legislative Assembly was adjourned sine die on Thursday after the House passed the TS Appropriation Bill-2015.

The Session was held for 14 days from March 7. The House was in session for 78 hours and 54 minutes. Eight crucial Bills were adopted.

While the ruling TRS utilised 65 hours, the Opposition Congress utilised 21 hours, MIM 7 hours, BJP 5 hours, YSRC 3 hours and CPI, CPM an hour each.

For the first time in recent times, full-fledged discussions were held on all the Budget demands, and they were approved through a voice vote.

However, TD members got suspended for the duration of the entire Budget Session on the second day of the Session for creating a ruckus in the House when the national anthem was played during the Governor's speech.

Participating in the debate on the Appropriation Bill, Congress member and TPCC chief N. Uttam Kumar Reddy lashed out at the TRS government for failing to provide revised estimates and actuals of the previous Budget (2014-15) and wondered how the Bill could be debated and passed without these basic details.

Mr Reddy came down heavily on the government for again opting for an “unrealistic budget” of over Rs 1 lakh crore, when it failed to spend even half of the amount last year.
