Telangana House session not to be extended

There were rumours that the Assembly session will be extended by two days

Hyderabad: Irrigation and legislative affairs minister T. Harish Rao said on Wednesday that there were no plans to extend the Assembly session by two days, as was rumoured, as the Opposition wants the House to be adjourned as per schedule.

“I think this is the most fruitful Assembly session we have had in a decade. We passed bills without much problem and there was quality debate on various issues. Except the suspension of TD MLAs for dishonouring the national anthem, this is the most fruitful session I can remember,”Mr Rao said.

The government, he said, gave enough opportunities to the Opposition to speak during Governor’s address and on other occasions. On Wednesday, the House adopted five Bills through a voice vote. The Bills passed on Wednesday are Telangana Parliamentary Secretaries Bill, Telangana Domestic and Industrial Water Grid Pipelines (Acquisition of right of user in land) Bill, Telangana (Agriculture Produce and Livestock) Markets (Amendment) Bill, The Warangal (Metropolitan Area) Police Bill and Telangana Value Added Tax.
