Police Headquarters land grabber booked

Govt had allotted the plot to build an integrated police headquarters
Hyderabad: The police has arrested a builder who tried to grab part of the land allotted for the proposed new police headquarters at Banjara Hills. Police booked a case against B. Raj Reddy for criminal trespass and intimidation alleging that he attempted to grab two acres of the 7.5 acres on Road No: 12.
Earlier, Raj Reddy had addressed the media claiming that the land belonged to him and that revenue officials had demanded bribes from him and he had refused. The government had allotted the plot to build an integrated police headquarters like the NYPD headquarters at Manhattan. Police said the accused forcefully stopped the construction of the boundary wall three days ago. “He threatened an ASI. We arrested him,” said ACP D. Udaykumar Reddy.
The Telangana government had allotted the 7.5 acres plot to the police. The entire land belonged to the government and the revenue department had conducted an assessment before handing it over. However, Raj Reddy claimed that he had been paying property tax for the plot since many years. But, cops said that he did not have any valid document.
