Telangana, Andhra Pradesh physics exam paper very ‘similar’
Nellore: By a curious coincidence, there is a lot of similarity in the Intermediate examination papers of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
The exams in Telangana started one day before AP. The syllabus for both states is the same, though the exams are being held by the respective state boards..
The general overlap was worth about 25 to 30 marks for both years, but the Physics II paper had similar questions for as many as 42 marks.
Attributing this to a coincidence, the correspondent of a junior college in Nellore said that the papers had stock questions. “Repetition is natural,” he said.
He said the usual practice of those preparing question papers was to choose important questions in every lesson. This is usually done from a question bank.
On Tuesday, Intermediate officials scotched rumours that the Physics II paper had been leaked.
Regional inspector of the Intermediate Board Parandhamaiah said the Physics II exam was held in Telangana on March 19, and there was a similarity of questions carrying 42 marks in the question paper of the Andhra Pradesh Board.
“Citing the questions, a section of press (not Deccan Chronicle) reported that the paper had been leaked today too. In fact, a Telugu newspaper has been publishing the Telangana question papers after the exam is over everyday for the benefit of students in Andhra Pradesh as the syllabus is same for both the states.”
“Telangana’s schedule is one day ahead of the Andhra Pradesh calendar, and all the colleges here have been asking their students to follow the Telangana question papers. Both of us published three sets of question papers for every subject and we are using Set II. We don’t know about how Telangana is proceeding,” Mr Parandhamaiah said.
